Bertie comes to town!

Monday was a very important day.  One which Horatio and I had been looking forward to all weekend and which warranted an afternoon off work for me.  Bouncing Bertie and Gail were coming to Edinburgh en route to Aberdeen!  For those of you not in the know, Bertie is a master blogger with a massive following of pooches from across the globe.  He posts on all manner of serious topics, as well as the less serious.  I must admit it was with awe and great reverence that I approached Waverley Station  to meet them off the train.  Horatio played it cool, appearing more interested in the commuters, the rubbish, the sounds and smells of the station.

Our initial meeting was a little fraught.  The hustle and bustle of rush hour is bad at the best of times but with two WFT who were meeting for the first time, it was even more frenetic.  There were a few frenzied moments but we made it to the car unscathed and headed straight for some space and calm - Arthur's Seat.

Once off the lead, both dogs led each other on a merry dance of chasies, play fighting and barking.  Gail and I managed snippets of conversation as we observed.  I was so hoping the pair would get on and that intervention wouldn't be required.  It's incredible how alike they were.  Not just in appearance but also in temperament.

True to form I only managed one photo of the pair and even that was pretty duff.  Compare with Gail's pics which appeared on the blog within 12 hours.  I've got a lot to learn.  On all fronts!

We too had been so looking forward to meeting you and Horatio. And what a pleasure it was all round. Thank you so much for taking the time to come and meet us. We really appreciate the lovely tour of Arthur's Seat. If only we had known we could have stayed longer as our train home was delayed by over an hour....

Bertie is feeling a little jealous as Gail keeps telling her friends what a handsome chap Horatio is, with such a cute face etc. etc. All our blog friends have been admiring him too.

Gail is wondering if Mandy has a family tree for Horatio - she is convinced the two pups must have ancestors in common, they are so alike.

We are both hoping that one day the pair of you will venture north to see us in Aberdeen.

Gail and Bertie.

I had no idea you were so delayed! How terrible. You could have come to dinner. We could have scaled Arthur's Seat! What a shame. I'm even more impressed that your blog was updated first thing the next day.
As for Horatio's family tree, I will have to contact the breeder but I doubt they will have much info. Horatio's official name is Kies Lad.... catchy.
We're coming north in May for a holiday on the Balmoral estate not far from Lochnagar. We could maybe arrange a rendez vous for a longer walk. I think Horatio would appreciate more time with Bertie. He has a lot to learn!

Thanks to Horatio, Bertie was calm enough later to allow me to type away on my lap top on the train to Aberdeen, hence the prompt blog post!
We'd definitely be up for a Balmoral rendezvous. Bertie climbed Lochnagar in August last year
Keep in touch.

Wasn't it lovely to meet lucky you both are. My peeps rushed through your parts of the world on a Trafalgar Tour and loved what they saw. Mum loves cool weather and can't get enough of the history and beautiful buildings. She would love to go back, but that would have to be OK'd by me.........

Anywho - great meeting, sounds like you will meet again!
